Across the Border

New Lands

I saw the moon through a cloudless sky
I saw stars that shone so bright
I saw the sun as it crossed the horizon
I saw day turn into night

I saw snow peaked mountains shimmer
In all their glacial might
I saw the rain forest splendour
As it devoured all the light

I used to marvel at the sights
Of new lands and their ways
But as I travel round the world
The sights I see dismay

I saw the change as I roamed the land
I saw changes in the sea
I saw the collapse of indigenous people
I saw the death of the free

I used to marvel at the sights
Of new lands and their ways
But as I travel round the world
The sights I see dismay

I saw the grass burn up and die
I saw earth turn into dust
I saw the trees wither and fall
I saw land become a crust

I see people power as countries fall
And dictators flee as planned
I see tyrants sneer with pockets lined
As they head for new found lands

I used to marvel at the sights
Of new lands and their ways
But as I travel round the world
The sights I see dismay
