Wednesday 22nd December: Looking forward to tomorrow's Christmas gig and hoping that David's voice survives the chest infection that's been plaguing him for the last few weeks.

The set list has had another major overhaul with some new covers, a couple of Christmas songs and featuring numbers from 'The Moon and the Sanctuary Bell' as well as the songs written in the last few weeks.

Sunday 19th December: The latest new song 'Sand Between Your Toes' got it's first airing at yesterdays rehearsal and will probably be included in Thursday's set at the Inn On The Green along with quite a few alterations in the set list.

Thursday 16th December: Across The Border makes it's way onto Youtube. Three songs have been uploaded with more to follow. See the Links Page.

Monday 6th December: 'Her Song' is recorded, mixed and mastered. 'A Night Up West' and 'Parallel Lines' remain to be recorded, 'Fat On The Fire' to be re-recorded and the album will be finished.

Tuesday 30th November: And another one! David unveils the rather beautiful 'Her Own Private Hell', the twenty-fifth Across The Border song and half of the third album's songs are written.

Monday 22nd November: Harmonica and backing vocals laid down on 'Dying Days' this evening. As if that wasn't enough David had added a melody to a set of lyrics sent over by Kim late last night. The new song is entitled 'Heal Me.'

Sunday 20th November: 'Walking Man' is now a song and in the studio 'Dying Days' is well on the way to completion.

Friday 18th November: Kim completes a new set of lyrics called 'The Walking Man.'

Tuesday 16th November: More album rehearsals tonight plus yet another new song from David, an acoustic rocker entitled 'Blind Faith' - the creative juices are certainly flowing at the moment.

Thursday 11th November: After listening to the rehearsal recording of 'Parallel Lines' from Tuesday the decision was that it couldn't be left off the album. 'Journeyman' now becomes the first song for the third album!

Tuesday 9th November: Just when the track listing had been sorted David comes up with 'Parallel Lines', one of his best songs yet. Some re-thinking may be required....

Thursday 4th November: Album front cover sorted - see the front page. Now for the reverse.

Tuesday 2nd November: Rehearsed 'Her Song' and 'Dying Days' tonight. It's all coming together nicely.

Sunday 31st October: 'Her Song' now has a full set of chords and Kim is turning his mind to the album cover artwork.

Wednesday 27th October: The last set of lyrics is completed entitled 'Her Song'. Once David has added the music it'll be time to concentrate on the final recordings for the album, the track listing being (in no particular order yet):

Showtime, New Moon, The Choice, Fat On The Fire, Seasons, A Night Up West, How Did It Come To This, Her Song, Dying Days and Journeyman.

Sunday 24th October: A most enjoyable gig at the Inn On The Green on Friday night and many thanks to all who came along. Thanks also to Lucy for the photography and also to Paul and Gwen for being such excellent hosts.

To see more go to the Pictures pages.

Wednesday 20th October: A night out at Dorking Halls to see a spectacular display of acoustic and electric guitar virtuosity from long-time Springsteen (and Neil Young) sideman Nils Lofgren. Simply breathtaking.

Tuesday 19th October: David has put music to 'Dying Days' and it was tried out for the first time at tonights rehearsal to Kim's enthusiastic approval. It's becoming noticeable that there are far more up-tempo songs compared with the mid-tempo numbers that were prevalent on 'Into The Light'.

One more song to write, quite a bit of recording, cover photography from Kim, the running order to decide and the second album will be completed.

Sunday 17th October: Across The Border has been selected as a 'featured band' by the internet radio station IMRadio. For more details see the Feedback page or, even better, visit the station itself via the Links page to hear us and many other bands and artists from around the world.

Saturday 16th October: Three hours of rehearsal and the updated autumn set list is sorted. Both 'A Simple Twist Of Fate' and 'New Moon' are in there along with several other new numbers among the twenty-seven songs.

Thursday 14th October: 'New Moon' does indeed get its public unveiling at the Emerald Club and goes down well. There's also a new cover; a bluesy version of Bob Dylan's 'A Simple Twist Of Fate' and that one's going straight into the Inn On The Green set list a week tomorrow.

Talking of set lists, it's becoming increasingly difficult to decide which songs to leave out. For the first time there will be two versions for rehearsal on Saturday.

Tuesday 12th October: Harmonica parts laid down, 'New Moon' is completed and will get it's first public outing at the Emerald Club on Thursday. There's a really good vibe happening with this album.

Saturday 9th October: David is on a roll at the moment. 'New Moon' is not only written but the guitar and vocal tracks are laid down. At this rate the new album will be out before Christmas.

Friday 8th October: Two new sets of Kim's lyrics; 'New Moon' and 'Dying Days' wing their way to David for his melodic attention.

Tuesday 5th October: There was a time when Kim developed his harmonica parts for new songs by gigging them before recording. Expecting a rehearsal this evening he arrived to find that David had already laid down the guitar and vocals for 'Journeyman'. Kim went into session musician mode and created the harmonica part, starting rather bizarrely with the last verse. ''I thought you might come in handy'' said David.

Friday 1st October: Then along came another one - David unveils a new song, the autobiographical 'Journeyman'.

Monday 29th September: Some things are worth waiting for - a year after Kim handed over the lyrics for 'Showtime' David finally came up with a melody he was satisfied with. The last few days have been spent recording it and both are very happy with the result.

With five tracks down, 'A Night Up West' to record and four more to be written the 'difficult second album' is starting to sound like it might be rather good.

Tuesday 21st September: 'I Came In From The Mountain' by Roddy Woomble of Idlewild is the latest cover to be recorded. Not a song that we perform all that often but one that was an audience favourite on our Ireland tour last year.

Saturday 18th September: After suprising our good friend Geoff Nash at the Emerald Club on Thursday by performing one of his songs 'Someone Out There Loves You' we recorded it at the request of his better-half Gina. We hope he likes it!

Tuesday 7th September: Another cover recorded; 'You're Lovely To Me' by Gordon Grahame (Lucky Jim.) Thanks to Lucy who suggested the song which has become a fixture in our live set.

Tuesday 31st August: Joni Mitchell's 'Woodstock' is completed.

Monday 30th August: Into the studio today to record three new covers: Amy MacDonald's 'This Is The Life', Stephen Stills '4 & 20' and The Levellers '15 Years'. Sounding pretty good and more to follow.....

Sunday, 29th August: We spent a few hours at the very picturesque Compasses Inn in Gomshall for the excellent annual Gomstock Music Festival. Our good friends The Goldrush performed their usual immaculate sun-drenched set under a leaden sky and pouring rain. Moments after they finished the sky cleared and the aforementioned sun decided to pay a visit. That's the power of quality music.

Sunday 22nd August: The weather might not have been as good as last year for the 3rd annual Capel Music Festival but the quality of the bands was better than ever.

Musically it was a frustrating afternoon for us as a torrential downpour and a coffee machine conspired to cut the power three times during our set before the engineers located the cause. That, as they say though, is rock 'n roll!

Some of the time we were doing this:

And some of the time we were even doing some of this:

For more of the Festival see the Pictures Page.

Monday 9th August: We became a garage band for the night on Saturday for Paul Hamlin's birthday celebration.Mind you it was more high-class hippie-themed barn than garage and we played an acoustic set in candlelight to a lovely audience. A really enjoyable evening.

Thursday 30th July: All's been quiet for much of the last month with family holidays in Greece, France, Spain and Cornwall. Kim revisited the medieval village of Monells in Catalonia where he wrote the lyrics in 2000 that, nine years later, would become 'Heatwave'. More precisely it was written behind the three-arched patio in the furthest building in the right-hand range:

Keep an eye on the 'Dates' page for new gigs as we start rehearsals for our set at the 2010 Capel Music Festival.

In the meantime here's Amy's back modelling our Ireland 2009 sweatshirt:

Tuesday 22nd June: The first new song for almost three months; 'Fat On The Fire' is completed.

Saturday 19th June: Our first anniversary gig to a packed house at the Inn On The Green last night was a great evening. Thanks to everyone who came along from as far away as Camberley and Bromley.

Tuesday 26th May: 'Heatwave' and 'The Battle' have both been featured on the playlist of IM Radio (see the links page).

Saturday 22nd May: A night off from being musicians as we joined the crowd at the Crown for the first Festival pre-event. The band were fellow Surrey acoustics The Goldrush who were predictably superb and we look forward to being on the bill with them at the Festival in August.

Friday 21st May: We played our first two-set local gig since Christmas at the Inn On The Green in Ockley and it was great fun. Other than supporting the excellent Open Mic evenings with the Ric Martin Band we will be back for our First Anniversary gig on Friday 18th June.

Monday 17th May 2010: 'Into The Light' is selling well and various tracks have been picked up by internet radio stations (see the Feedback Page). At the moment it's rehearsals and more rehearsals as we lead up to summer gigs, our appearance at the 3rd Capel Music Festival and our November Ireland Tour.

Saturday 3rd April 2010: A New song, 'The Choice' is written and recorded.

Saturday 27th March 2010: 'Into The Light' Is released.

Monday 14th March 2010: With 'The Sieve' recorded last night the album is finished. Release date is the 27th March and the price an inconsequential £5, £1 of which will be donated to this year's Capel Music festival charity; Surrey Air Ambulance which is entirely community-funded.

Wednesday 3rd March 2010: Two more tracks, 'The Sieve' and 'Second Sight', to record before the first album is completed. To hear some of the tracks go. to the Links Page. Meanwhile below David is mixing the tracks for the latest recording of 'Looking Back'.

Friday 26th February 2010: Another great night at the Inn On The Green with some excellent acts and a large enthusiastic audience. This place is rapidly becoming a major home for live music locally.

Sunday 21st February 2010: A new song; 'How Did It Come To This?' is written and recorded in three days. It'll be on the second album.

Sunday 14th February 2010: 'A Travellers Tale', 'Night Train' and 'The Battle' are recorded.

Monday 1st February 2010: A hugely enjoyable 'open mic' night at the Inn On The Green in Ockley last Friday that included Across The Border and the exellent Ric Martin Band. The big audience ensured it was a success and the next one is scheduled for Friday 26th February. An event not to be missed.

Saturday 30th January 2010: 'Heatwave' is recorded.

To listen to the songs follow the link:

Monday 25th January 2010; 'The Voyage' is recorded.

Saturday 23rd January 2010:  Due to the arctic weather it's been a slow start to the year on the gigging front with the first appearance at the Emerald Club on the 22nd January. However, recording sessions for the first album 'Into The Light' are underway at DJM Studios where 'Kissing The Cobra' and 'The Light' are completed.
