Across the Border

Her Song

They met through a friend who saw a connection,
Their caution subsided and turned to affection.
Was mutual respect for each other enough,
Or after a time should she just call his bluff.

Did she really take stock when he asked her to move,
Was she kidding herself she had something to prove.
Was the future that bright and the feeling so strong,
As to moving her family from the place she belonged.

(Chorus)

They both tried at first to fit in their new life,
To do all the things like a husband and wife.
She made all the adjustments to fit into his plan,
But differences surfaced between woman and man.

Did she think she could change him or was he so set,
In has ways and his thinking it made her upset.
He was gentle and kind in so many ways,
But the longer she stayed her nerves became frayed.

Her child’s now a man and left her alone,
It’s time to decide should she now leave the home.
Is affection enough to see out her life,
Or is life for the living no matter the strife.

They both tried at first to fit in their new life,
To do all the things like a husband and wife.
She made all the adjustments to fit into his plan,
But differences surfaced between woman and man.

You get one chance in life or so she was told,
Is it that simple to be clear and so bold.
It may be a cliché the writing on the wall,
But he’s had so many chances and wasted them all.

They both tried at first to fit in their new life,
To do all the things like a husband and wife.
She made all the adjustments to fit into his plan,
But differences surfaced between woman and man.
