Across the Border

New Moon

I’m lonely in the new moon,
The end of the longest night.
Sitting by the window,
Waiting for the morning light.

There’s nothing going on today,
I guess that won’t surprise you.
I’m in another groundhog day,
But then I’ve been there too.

I’m not on top of my game,
Too much is all the same.
I’ve been back to the well once to often,
And this time the well is dry.

Maybe tomorrow will be different,
Perhaps the sun will rise in the west.
I’ll have a day of wild adventure,
It won’t be just like the rest.

I can’t wait for this evening,
I can’t wait for a longer night.
So I can sit by my window,
And wait for the morning light.

I’m not on top of my game,
Too much is all the same.
I’ve been back to the well once to often,
And this time the well is dry.
