Across the Border

The Sieve

There’s a red hot coal inside your brain
Where the world and his wife drives you insane
When the soaps, Big Brother and the PM’s speech
Makes your soul feel like food for a spiritual leech

When your hearts crying out and won’t take no more
When the thunder in your head makes your body sore
When society is setting up all the rules
And forgets to give you the appropriate tools

Relax your mind, tensions gone
Relax your mind, tensions gone
Take each cliché as it comes
Relax your mind, tensions gone

Well let me tell you now about the way to live
Throw the world and his wife into a righteous sieve
Take out all the pieces that you want to keep
And throw away the rubbish that disturbs your sleep

And if like me you find in darkness light
Writing songs in the quiet of a moonlit night
It’s the sun-drenched nourishment of the soul
That goes to keep your mind and spirit whole

Relax your mind, tensions gone
Relax your mind, tensions gone
Take each cliché as it comes
Relax your mind, tensions gone
